Privacy Policy
Last updated 2 November 2026
Trackcorder is a screen and camera recorder for macOS. Your privacy is simple to explain, because Trackcorder does not collect, transmit or store any personal data.
What Trackcorder does
- Records your screen, camera, microphone and system audio and saves them as separate files on your own Mac, in a folder you choose (by default
~/Movies). - Writes a synced timeline (
timeline.fcpxml) and an offsets file (sync.json) next to those recordings so you can import them into a video editor. - Optionally blurs the background of your camera image. That processing runs on your Mac using Apple’s built-in frameworks.
All recording and processing happens entirely on your device.
What Trackcorder does not do
- It does not send any recording, video, audio or file anywhere.
- It does not use analytics, tracking, advertising or third-party SDKs.
- It does not collect names, emails, identifiers, usage data or location.
- It has no account, no login and no server.
Permissions
Trackcorder asks macOS for the permissions it needs and uses them only for the preview and the recordings you start.
- Camera, to show your live preview and record your webcam.
- Microphone, to record your voice.
- Screen Recording, to record your screen and system audio.
You can revoke any of these at any time in System Settings.
Purchases
Trackcorder is sold through the Mac App Store. Payments are handled entirely by Apple, and I never see your payment details.
Your files
Your recordings stay on your Mac under your control. Trackcorder never uploads or shares them. Deleting the files removes them, and nothing is stored anywhere else.
Children
Trackcorder is a general-purpose utility and is not directed at children. It collects no data from anyone.
Changes
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new date.
