Quick start

  1. Open Trackcorder.
  2. Grant Camera, Microphone and Screen Recording permissions when prompted. Screen Recording needs one app relaunch the first time.
  3. Pick your screen, camera and microphone. Optionally drag a screen area.
  4. Press Record, or ⌃⌥⌘R from any app. Use Pause and Resume as needed.
  5. Press Stop. Your session is saved to the output folder (~/Movies by default).

What you get per recording

Inside Recording-<date>/:

What happens at the free limit?

The free version stops a recording at 3 minutes, with a countdown during the last 30 seconds. Every file and the timeline are saved and complete. A one-time purchase removes the limit.

I already paid, how do I restore my purchase?

Press “Free, up to 3 min” next to the Record button, or choose Unlock Full Version in the menu bar, then press Restore Purchase. Use the same Apple ID you bought it with.

The camera preview is black

Make sure the right camera is selected and that Trackcorder has Camera permission. Some USB capture devices show black until they receive an input signal.

Screen recording isn’t working

Enable Trackcorder under System Settings, Privacy & Security, Screen Recording, then relaunch the app. This is a one-time macOS step.

How do I import into DaVinci Resolve?

In Resolve, go to File, Import, Timeline and choose timeline.fcpxml. All clips land on separate tracks, already in sync. If your editor doesn’t read FCPXML, place each file on its own track using the offsets in sync.json.

Does Pause remove the dead time?

Yes. Paused time is cut from every file, and all tracks stay in sync.

Where are my recordings?

In the output folder shown in the app, which is ~/Movies by default, or wherever you chose with the Choose button. Move a session folder and Resolve will ask you to relink the clips, as it does with any media.
